Meet Colleen

Colleen P. Shannon has been in the architecture field for 30+ years, spanning locations in Pennsylvania, Chicago, and now Traverse City and the surrounding region. Not only has she collaborated and worked with many other prominent architects throughout her career, but she has been busy building her own architecture firm over the last decade, with a portfolio that includes commercial as well as residential projects.
A true student of architecture, Colleen has an impressive breadth of knowledge of architectural history and styles. She approaches each new project with creativity and enthusiasm, along with a practical, straightforward approach that perfectly blends a client's vision with her own expertise and talent. The end result is a thoughtful and beautiful expression of architecture at its best.

On a personal note, Colleen is a proud Mom of a grown son. She lives in a historic Central neighborhood with her Austrailian Shepherd and Bernese Mountain dogs, Pixie and Ruby.


Meet Catrina

Architectural Designer

Bachelor of Interior Architecture. Chico State, Chico, CA
Catrina L. Ottman is an Architectural Designer at Dovecote Studio with a background in interior architecture and fine arts. Her design knowledge includes commercial, residential, adaptive reuse, and community-based architectural design initiatives.
Catrina recently graduated from Clemson University in South Carolina, where she earned her Masters of Architecture and a Certificate in Historic Preservation. Born and raised on the West Coast, she has been delighted to relocate to Northern Michigan, where she’s fallen in love with the weather, the lakes, and the people.

Working toward professional licensure, Catrina welcomes any opportunity to expand her technical expertise and advance her understanding of the design and construction field.
​
Outside of the office, Catrina is always interested in design, from furniture design to the culinary arts to non-traditional building materials and passive heating/cooling systems. She is passionate about getting outdoors as often as she can and spends as much time with her miniature schnauzer, Maizy, as she possibly can.
